A HUGE Scare

Tonight was one of the biggest scares of my life .... Austin was on his way to meet some friends when smoke starting coming out of the A/C vents. It kept getting worse and he pulled over. About that time, he looked down to see a small flame near the gas pedal. He and his friend jumped out of the truck and called 911. Within a few minutes, the entire truck was engulfed in flames and completely destroyed. I was able to get to them before the fire department and sheriff's dept arrived .... that was the longest 5 min. of my life. I knew he was ok because I talked to him but I needed to be there and put my arms around him.

He and his friend are ok ... a little smoke inhalation and a little freaked out but ok. Below are the photos of the remains ..... scary thing is that this truck was only 3 years old and had under 40K miles ....

God had HIS hand keeping them safe and giving them the knowledge to get out and get away. We experienced a miracle tonight and I'm on my knees in thanksgiving for that.

Cincinnati in August

Seems we are lucky enough to get to experience Cincinnati during all seasons! We recently returned to the lovely city for some follow-up testing from Raegan's surgery. All was not as we hoped and she is facing a potential new surgery in the near future.

Since Raegan was not hospitalized during this trip, we were able to spend some time with the girls going to the zoo and surrounding areas. Enjoy a little glimpse into Cincinnati in August.

The Cincinnati Zoo...

The girls feed the giraffes
Beautiful flowers in bloom at the zoo
Snoozing
Love the unique display of the big cats ... allows you to get closer. The girls were mesmerized.

Raegan did not handle this trip well .... as evidenced by her lovely attitude displayed here!
The Bengals stadium from behind our hotel.
The Cincinnati skyline
Highlight of the trip was the two very brief overnight stays at my brother's house which allowed us to get some loving in on my beautiful nieces and nephew!

The oh-so-adorable MJ!
The two peas in a pod ... they are hilarious together!

Some interesting Bengals fans on the way to a pre-season game ...
hmmmm....

Summer is Over ....

This summer has been a whirlwind of events for our family.... hence the lack of blogging :)

Raegan's surgery definitely put a damper on our summer activities but thankfully she has healed and we have started getting use to our new normal with her. While Raegan, Lilli, and I stayed in for the most part this summer, the teenagers were able to have some fun along the way. (John was in Korea for all of July).

Austin went to Washington D.C. with his WorldVision group and had a wonderful time. Thanks to Kristie for sharing the pics below...

Savanna went on a cruise with my brother, sister-in-law, and cousin Faith. This was in celebration of her and Faith's 13th birthdays.
They suffered through a week at sea, Cozumel, and Playa Del Carman.

This is Raegan and her orphanage "sister" that also lives in MS. Aren't they beautiful?

Lilo from Lilo & Stitch came to visit us
The princess and the hippie spent some time at our house as well
Sporting the newest look from Mexico ... compliments of Savanna :)
A short trip to Texas to visit family and to see my beautiful cousin, Caroline.
Savanna and one of her BFF's, Kelsey in Texas. These two can pick up right where they left off after several months apart. I love that they have this friendship with each other.
We had a little impromptu birthday celebration for my Grandmother. She turns 88 today!

The cousins :) Watch out world!

School starts tomorrow so our summer is officially over!

(Jill, Am I off blog probation now? lol)
